A Magnetic Wetting Transition

چکیده
We discuss, within a continuum Landau theory, the possibility of an anisotropy-reIated wetting transition in a semi-infinite cubic ferromagnet. This is then investigated for a specific value of anisotropy parameter, where it is shown to divide into two Ising model problems.

Non-equilibrium wetting transition in a magnetic Eden model
Magnetic Eden clusters with ferromagnetic interaction between nearestneighbor spins are grown in a confined 2d-geometry with short range magnetic fields acting on the surfaces. The change of the growing interface curvature driven by the field and the temperature is identified as a non-equilibrium wetting transition and the corresponding phase diagram is evaluated.
متن کاملQuasi-wetting and morphological phase transitions in confined far-from-equilibrium magnetic thin films
The growth of confined magnetic films with ferromagnetic interactions between nearest-neighbor spins is studied in a stripped (1 + 1)−dimensional rectangular geometry. Magnetic films are grown irreversibly by adding spins at the boundaries of the growing interface. A competing situation with two opposite short range surface magnetic fields of the same magnitude is analyzed. Due to the antisymme...
متن کاملThe Role of Partial Internal Wetting in Hysteresis Behavior of Catalyst Pellet
The phenomenon of capillary condensation is studied through the weight change of condensed phase in an internally wetted porous pd catalyst pellet during the course of exothermic reacation of cyclohexane hydrogenation in a thermogravimetric analyzer (TGA). The direct measurement of condensed phase indicates that evaporation of condensed phase is confined to the macropores of catalyst pellet at ...
متن کاملEdge wetting of an Ising three-dimensional system.
The effect of edge on wetting and layering transitions of a three-dimensional spin-1/2 Ising model is investigated, in the presence of longitudinal and surface magnetic fields, using mean field theory and Monte Carlo simulations. For T=0, the ground state phase diagram shows that there exist only three allowed transitions, namely, surface and bulk transition, surface transition, and bulk transi...
متن کاملOrder-disorder criticality, wetting, and morphological phase transitions in the irreversible growth of far-from-equilibrium magnetic films
An exhaustive numerical investigation of the growth of magnetic films in confined (d + 1)-dimensional stripped geometries (d = 1, 2) is carried out by means of extensive Monte Carlo simulations. Films in contact with a thermal bath at temperature T , are grown by adding spins having two possible orientations and considering ferromagnetic (nearest-neighbor) interactions. At low temperatures, thi...
